Hogs 4 Dogs USA Bike Night – May 7th, 2013

A big thank you to everyone who came out and shared in the good time Tuesday night!  We had a pretty good crowd of people show up considering the crazy weather that we have had lately.  We enjoyed meeting new people and talking with old friends.   Please, if you have nothing to do on Tuesday nights, stop by Bridge City Bowl and join us!!!  Hogs 4 Dogs USA Bike nights are the first Tuesday of every month except in July and then it’s July 3 for the Bike and Car Show and Swap Meet.

This little guy rode in on a beautiful Triumph.  Safety first as he is secured tightly and ca6refully in place with his doggles on.  Love the blue mohawk!

We will be posting the majority of the pictures taken at events on facebook for a while until we get all the photos uploaded from the ride last year.  We may sneak a few pictures in from time to time on here though so keep watching!  Please get on the Hogs 4 Dogs USA facebook page and tag away at photos of you and your friends!

Toward the end of the bike night a couple came rolling in from Eddyville on their brand new custom bike from Fat Baggers Inc.  They had just picked it up at 4:30 and were still getting used to all the features.  The circle of men surrounding it at one point was awesome and then the owner lowered the bike and it was like Christmas.  The picture below gives you an idea of the Razorback.  There are more pictures posted on Facebook.

Quilt Raffle!!!!!

QUILT RAFFLE QUILTS ARE DONE AND WE ARE READY TO SELL TICKETS!!!  Hogs 4 Dogs USA is pleased to announce that there will be two quilts offered for raffle at the Hogs 4 Dogs USA 10th Anniversary ride, September 8th, 2013.  WE ARE FULL OF PATRIOTISM THIS YEAR!!!!  In honor of this occasion, the quilts are a patriotic theme.  Quilt raffle tickets will be available starting May 7th from Hogs 4 Dogs USA members.  Quilt raffle prices are: 1 for $1, 6 for $5.

SILENT AUCTION ENDING MAY 9TH!!!!!  GET YOUR BID IN NOW!!!!!!!!

Stop in at Anjila’s Mane Designs 529 Church Street Ottumwa, IA to bid on a purse. The Blind Auction has begun! Stop in Tuesday through Friday 8AM – 5PM and place a bid on the purse of your choice.
How to bid: Fill out a bid slip with your name, address and phone number and your maximum bid. Then place the slip into the purse of your choice.  Bids will be accepted through Thursday May 9th, 2013.  Winners of the purses and the Grand Prize for donating purses will be contacted on Friday, May 10th, 2013. Just in time for Mother’s Day.

A big thanks to Brad Moureau and his mother for thinking of Hogs 4 Dogs USA!!!   On Saturday, February 16th, a small Hogs crew was invited to do concessions for a farm auction with profits from concessions being donated to Hogs 4 Dogs USA.  Believe us, this is not something we would have thought up ourselves. The morning started at 19° and the coffee and hot chocolate sales were awesome.   We met some really wonderful people, got to sell some food, and share the Hogs 4 Dogs USA mission.  Unfortunately, the camera got put away before the whole crew showed up to protect it from the cold weather.  Thanks to the crew on the the serving line: Tammie Hartley, Joanie Hartley, Lori Quinn, Jayne Peck, Olivia Pilcher, and Mindy Beekman.  Special thanks to the J-Crew for all their heavy lifting, trash hauling, sweeping and support! (John Hartley, Joe Beekman and Joe Pilcher)  Here are some pics of the set up before we got going.  Keep us in mind for other fundraising ideas!!!

Hogs 4 Dogs USA Protecting Animals Trained to Protect Us!

Feb. 12, 2013 – The Ottumwa Police Department K9 Unit received a kevlar vest for Shariek at the Main Street Ottumwa Soup and Scoop.  The vest was presented to K9 Officer Cody McCoy following a speech by Police Chief Jim Clark.  This is a great way to get the word out about the Hogs 4 Dogs USA mission and protect one of the animals in the community trained to protect us.

K-9 Clinic HUGE Success!!!!

The K-9 Clinic on February 2, 2013 was a HUGE success!!!  Thank you so much to all the volunteers that helped Hogs 4 Dogs USA to strive towards helping companion pets in Ottumwa, IA and the surrounding areas.  Thank you to the sponsors of the K9 Clinic: Hogs 4 Dogs USA, Thomas Vet Clinic, Tom FM, and the Elks.  These are just a few pictures of the day:

Upcoming Event: Purses for Pooches

Donate your new or gently used purses/handbags. Drop off your donation at Anjila’s Mane Designs at 529 Church St. in Ottumwa. For each purse donation you make you may enter your name into the grand prize drawing

The blind auction bidding begins at Anjila’s Friday, April 1st. Stop in Tuesday thru Friday 8am-5pm and place your bid on the purse of your choice. Fill out a bid slip with your name, address, and phone number and you maximum bid. Place the bid slip into the purse of your choice. Bidding ends May 9th. Winners will be contacted Friday, May 10th – just in time for Mother’s Day.
All money raised will be used to fund Hogs 4 Dogs USA.

Ride Iowa

The Ride Iowa event is scheduled to begin in February.  Participants will purchase a “passport” full of various locations to visit.  Details of the ride will be discussed at the upcoming meeting and the full list of rules and destinations will be released following the meeting. Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting, details are listed on the calendar page.

Upcoming Event: K9 Clinic

The K9 clinic will be held Saturday, February 2nd from 1:00PM – 4:00PM at the Ottumwa Elks Lodge, 413 S. Iowa Ave. in Ottumwa.

The following items will be provided at the clinic (cash payment only):
$15 Vaccinations
$25 Micro-chipping
$7 2013 dog licenses
$50 1 micro-chip & 2 Vaccinations
coupons and drawings (while supplies last)

All dogs must be on a leash with an adult owner. If the current rabies certificates are available, please bring them to the clinic.
